My Health Compare (www.myhealthcompare.com), a new consumer website that uses publicly available data from Medicaid and Medicare, has ranked Lakeview Hospital as one of the best hospitals in Minnesota. In the category of “overall care” Lakeview had a performance average of 88.2%; this is only .7% lower than the highest performance average for Minnesota, placing Lakeview within the top 1% in Minnesota on this web site. The average “overall care” performance for the state of Minnesota was 83.3%. The national performance average was 82.5%.
According to My Health Compare, the overall care score is a composite score that is calculated by averaging all individual clinical and satisfaction scores that are submitted by hospitals. It uses data from 43 clinical quality and satisfaction measures that focus on surgery care, cardiac care, pneumonia care and children’s asthma, and six outcome measures showing percentage of patients not readmitted and survival rates for heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia. Additionally, they collect ten patient satisfaction measures through the CAHPS Hospital survey. Many other healthcare ranking organizations exclude patient satisfaction data from their calculations.
“We are proud and honored to receive this recognition,” stated Curt Geissler, Lakeview Hospital CEO. “We constantly strive to provide our patients with the best possible care.”
In a list of hospitals in the Midwest (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and Kansas) posted on myhealthcompare.com, Lakeview Hospital’s performance average results were ranked 53 of 699.
