What is Asthma Education?
- It is a one-on-one visit with an asthma educator
- It is a time to learn about you or your child's illness when you are not sick or worried
- Our goal is to help you keep yourself healthy and head off problems before they begin
We will help you understand:
- What asthma is
- How to live an active life with asthma
- Signs and symptoms of an asthma attack
- Medication
- Equipment
- How to use an inhaler effectively
- What to do if you are sick (an Asthma Action Plan)
Even if you're feeling well, National Institute of Health guidelines recommend:
- An annual preventive exam
- Regular spirometry
