Asthma Education

What is Asthma Education?

  • It is a one-on-one visit with an asthma educator
  • It is a time to learn about you or your child's illness when you are not sick or worried
  • Our goal is to help you keep yourself healthy and head off problems before they begin
We will help you understand:
  • What asthma is
  • How to live an active life with asthma
  • Signs and symptoms of an asthma attack
  • Medication
  • Equipment
  • How to use an inhaler effectively
  • What to do if you are sick (an Asthma Action Plan)

Even if you're feeling well, National Institute of Health guidelines recommend:

  • An annual preventive exam
  • Regular spirometry
