Anatomy of the Urinary Tract
There are 2 kidneys that lie just behind the lowest (12th) ribs. Their job is to filter blood of water and waste products (including minerals) which creates urine. The urine is then transported through the ureter to the bladder. The urethra carries the urine out of the body.
